Ashok Jewellers is headed by Lala Chuni Lal, father of the owner, Raju. Lala Chuni Lal, born and brought up in Gujrat, Pakistan, is a self made man. He came to Punjab after the division of India and Pakistan, with two old and
ill parents and two very young brothers with nothing but just the clothes that they were wearing. As his father was very old and ill and was unable to work and thus the responsibility was left on Lala Chuni Lal for the bread and shelter of his family. He started working as a goldsmith as a helper in Kapurthala, Punjab. He worked both fulltime (for his boss) and part time (for himself). With hard work, he slowly but steadily reached the level of becoming a jeweller. He was successful in bringing up his young brothers in making them on their own feet and then got married to Ms Janak Rani. His wife was proved to be a very lucky lady for him. He soon became an owner of a fourteen-retail-stores property and a father of three sons and two daughters. The whole market is named as Chuni Lal Market, the first market of Kapurthala. He brought up his kids with a very luxurious and comfortable life. On the other hand, he didn't forget to train each one of them of their ages old profession, jewellery making, to carry forward their goldsmith tradition. Years later, Chuni Lal was forced to come and start living in Canada as the whole family had migrated there. He is now living as a retiree, a peaceful life with his younger son Raju, not to forget Ashok Kumar's, Krishan Chander's and Radha Rani's care and love for him.

Ashok Jewellers is owned by Raju (Balram Kumar), a 35 year old Born-to-be-Jeweller. He is originally from Kapurthala, Punjab, India. He is a graduate in bachelor of commerce, from Punjab University. From the start he was not interested in studies, but showed tremendous interest in manufacturing jewellery. "Raju has achieved a degree of Doctorate, with distinction, in our field of Goldsmith!" was proudly said by Lala Chuni Lal. He migrated to Canada in 1987 to start a career as a jeweller, at the age of 22, following his elder brother, Ashok Kumar. Making jewellery was in his blood, inherited from his father Lala Chuni lal. Initially, he helped his elder brother to make jewellery for the retail stores of Toronto. Work of 18 hours and sleep of 4 hours made Ashok Kumar and Raju successful manufacturers of Indian Jewellery. All the hard work and the loving support of Ashok made Raju to establish an Indian jewellery store in Malton, Ontario. He named his store Ashok Jewellers after his brother, as Ashok was the one and only source of inspiration for him to begin his field as a jeweller. He started this establishment with a low inventory of his own hand made jewellery. God's Grace and his dedication showed Ashok Jewellers the path of prosperity. It was a one way acceleration for Raju to be a successful business person.
